How Do I Patch Thin Stucco?

how do i patch an outside wall of stucco it looks like the hole building has had a re stucco job and this THIN layer of stucco (less than 1/4 “) is like rubber or caulk with stucco mixed in and comming off walls in large amounts this is in albuqerque NM if that helps all i can help i can find is for ctucco that is cement and has no flex to it

Sounds like this could be a product like Dryvit which is a synthetic acrylic type stucco finish that is troweled on. Here’s a link for you to investigate. You could also try calling the builder who built the home if you know.
Try searching EIFS and Synthetic Stucco
It sounds like someone coated the stucco with one of those thick acrylic latex products that are normally used for smoothing over or patching rough or cracked wood.
If it’s peeling off the stucco base easily enough, maybe a pressure washer could take it off down to the original stucco. You’ll need to do that if you want to use real stucco over the top – I don’t think it will adhere well to an acrylic product.
Real stucco is a concrete product troweled on to wire lathe sound like you have an acrylic product put on to an unprepared base. If you have a warranty on the finish make them repair it.If not call a contractor to asses the problem.
