How Can I Camouflage A Damaged Wall Cheaply?
2009 May 31
My dear husband took down some awful outdated border from our bathroom (think 80’s pastel floral) and it took off some of the layers of paint and such underneath. That with the other patch jobs and slight damages to the old wall will be super visible if I just paint.
Does anyone have any idea of maybe a paint technique or something I can do to make the imperfections less noticeable?
Something easy and cheap preferably.
We rent but our land lord let’s us do what ever we want. Within reason of course.

1st paint with a light color, then take a wadded up walmart type bag and dip it in another darker paint and pounce it on the wall all over. It will leave some light showing and help cover the inperfections.
2nd you could do a tuscan theme paint plaster mix trowel it on and not smooth it out. paint it one color then go over it with a wash of a darker color in circles. It hides a lot.
Just buy some ready-mixed filler/plaster etc from your hardware store and some sandpaper.
Apply the filler, leave it to dry, then sand it down til its at the same level as the rest of the wall.
Then paint over it!
Make sure the filler you buy can be painted over. They should be able to advise at the store.
In some stores you can get free thingies of tester paint if you dont need much.
Good luck!
Use some plaster of paris or any filler and then paint it with any suitable color. As reference here I am forwarding you the web site link that will give you useful information about bathroom remodeling. The link is
Use pink spackle and a putty knife. The pink dries white, so you know when it is dry enough to paint.
Good luck.
Try texture paint and make sure you use FLAT or sometimes a faux finish works too but it depends on how rough is the wall.
Paint it but then put frames on the wall.
