Most home supply stores such as Home Depot sell tubes of drywall/plaster repair compound. It dries in an hour or two, then requires some light sanding to smooth it out. If the wall is not plaster ask the clerk at Home hardware for advice. They are very helpfull and seem to have repair kits for everything.

Go to your local hardware store, buy spackling compound, a putty knife, and fine grained sand paper. Fill the hole with spackling compound, using the putty knife, when it dries, use the sand paper to smooth it out.
